As a pre-teen/teen wannabe my absolute teenybopper crush was Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the original JT + T. Given my absurd obsession (literally wallpapered my room in his Teen Beat posters), I made a point to NEVER miss a episode of Home Improvement. Well these days JTT and Home Improvement may be far removed from my every thought, but those catastrophes that always followed Tim the Toolman Taylor are ever present.
We’ve blown it off as the luck of buying an older home, living in a cursed church and even the “we just do not know what we are doing,” but somehow the simplest of projects in the church house continue to be endlessly daunting. That said, the satisfaction we revel in with the completion of what most would think are menial tasks is not dramatic, it is damn well deserved.
^No more light getting to our beer
^Church sign recovered
^New lighting and mirrors
^Best bottle opener
^This gem made it 30 minutes before my accidental destruction (curse)
^Salvaged bathroom shelving
Now, despite all the church house misfortunes to date, investigating the history has served to remind us of one of the biggest reasons we chose to make it our home four months ago. What we have learned so far is that church may be much older than once predicted and may have housed more than one denomination. Much more exploring ahead!
Aside from the all-consuming house endeavors, we’ve also been having some fun at both up-and-coming and old favorite Asheville spots.
O, and we had a little bit of snow:)
Fingers crossed for no more snow, house disasters or stink bugs. Here’s hoping!
Up next on the agenda- sign up for a summer half and bask in the Florida sunshine! Countdown 3 days!
