Eat.Drink.Run

{lover of happy hour, longs runs, westie pups & gamecocks}

While football officially kicked off close to a month ago, for me it just does not seem like the season until I am surrounded by 80,000 “game” and “cocks” in Willy B.

Thankfully, this past weekend football reality finally sank in as David and I made our way down I-26 to Columbia.

Upon arrival to the Cooper Residence, I made my way to the kitchen while David made his way back out the door in search of beer.  Clearly, we had not packed a cooler slam full of craft brews….Nah, we needed to stock up on SC Beer, specifically, Westbrook, of which we now have an ample supply (no complaints here!).

Post-beer run/tailgate-prep we made our way to the fairgrounds for our first non-AVL tailgate of the season (not that tailgates in Asheville really constitute a true experience).  No- to be an official tailgate there are a few essentials you must have:  beer (preferably not high gravity:)), tents (this is the southern hotspot after all), grub (and lots of it we did have), music (cue George and the very large speaker, although, I’m sure Lauren contributed to the killer playlist!),  TVs (yes, 1 will not suffice when there are multiple games to be watched) and other miscellaneous entertainment (generally this is mostly “people watching” or as was the case this week, astonishment over clothing choices).

After several hours of merriment, we made our way into Willy B where cheers were more predominant in the first half.  Nevertheless, we survived the second half and have moved on to a 2-1 record (most of us have seen worse starts, so I’ll take it:)).

Sunday morning we arrived to The Oak Table with our gracious hosts and devoured brunch!  I was blown away by all the growth on Main Street and was quite pleased to have a view of the statehouse throughout the meal.  Can’t wait to visit again, maybe post-half!!

Up next on the football agenda is a trip to Neyland Stadium where we will take on the Volunteers!  Go Cocks!

Until then, Cheers:)
